I recently read about a new trend in South Korea that I find interesting.  In Seoul, the government has decided to paint nearly 5,000 parking spots pink.  The idea behind the pink parking spots is to accommodate women wearing uncomfortable heels so they will not have to walk as far to shopping centers or workplaces.

I suppose in theory this sounds like a good idea – surely, many women often sacrifice their poor feet by stuffing them into a pair of impossibly high heels and no doubt wish that they didn’t have to actually walk in the shoes.  Nevertheless, it still seems pretty strange and Stepford Wives-ish to imagine a world with pink parking spots designated for women in heels.
